How to Check Stainless Steel Quality in a Milk Separator Before Ordering
A shiny separator bowl is easy to photograph. It is not enough to prove the material is suitable for daily dairy work. Before ordering, inspect the parts that actually touch milk: the bowl, disc stack, receiver, and outlet spouts.
1. Ask for the exact milk-contact parts list
Request a written list of every component in the milk path. Do not accept a general statement such as "stainless steel machine". The bowl may be stainless steel while a small outlet, washer, or internal fitting uses a different material.
2. Check permanent markings and batch documents
In our factory photographs, several stainless components are visibly marked SUS 304. Treat the marking as one piece of evidence, not the entire proof. Ask for the material certificate linked to the production batch and keep it with your purchasing records.
A certificate should identify the material designation and the tested batch. If the supplier cannot connect the document to the parts being shipped, ask for a video inspection before packing.
3. Inspect the finish, edges, and welds
Look closely at the inside of the bowl and the edges of each disc. The surface should be even and free from burrs, deep scratches, flaking, or trapped polishing compound. Pay special attention to the center opening and the rim, where residue can remain after a quick rinse.
A mirror finish is useful for cleaning, but it is not a substitute for a material certificate. Surface appearance and material grade answer different questions.
4. Avoid the magnet-test shortcut
A magnet can be useful as a rough screening tool, but it cannot certify SUS304. Forming and fabrication can change magnetic response, and different stainless grades may behave similarly. Use the supplier's documentation and, for high-volume procurement, consider independent material verification.
5. Confirm the cleaning procedure
Ask which detergents and temperatures the supplier recommends. Daily care should remove milk fat and protein without attacking seals or the stainless finish. Avoid steel wool and abrasive tools: a scratch can become a place for residue to collect even when the base material is appropriate.
Buyer checklist
- Milk-contact parts listed individually.
- Permanent marking photographed clearly.
- Material certificate linked to the shipped batch.
- Bowl, discs, and spouts inspected before packing.
- Cleaning chemicals and rinse procedure confirmed in writing.
This process takes a few minutes and gives you a much more useful quality record than a product photo alone. Contact ANDUUK with your voltage, capacity, and destination if you need a pre-shipment material and video inspection checklist.
